How to Use Instagram Story Polls to Get Leads

I say this all the time and I will say it again: if you want to sell on Instagram you need to get personal with your audience.

Just creating content and calling it a day, in most cases will not be enough —and even if you are selling some just by doing your posts and stories, if you stop there you’re leaving money on the table.

Truth is, most people that are interested in what you have to sell will have some questions or obstacles before they press your “shop” or “book” button.

Now, here’s where it gets interesting: most people will not be so invested as to go the extra length and ask you questions — after all, most brands don’t even respond their DMs in a timely manner. But if they know you’re there, they will most likely ask their questions and many times, realize what you sell is just what they need.

That are many ways to do this, but today I will share how I use polls to not only get personal, but also reach out to the right people, not just anyone who sees my content.

Anytime I am doing a sales push, this last time being for our membership, I create a story every couple of days with a poll to segment my audience and give me access to those who are leads (a good fit for my offer).

But Instead of creating a poll that says: “are you interested in hearing more about our membership?”, I create a polls that asks about their familiarity with my offer and whether they have the problems my offer solves.

Here are two examples:

When you click on your story insights on the bottom left, you will see a list of people for each poll answer. Next to their Instagram handle there’s a paper airplane button to DM them.

So what I do next, is slide into their DMs and send a voice memo introducing myself and telling them more about my offer and leaving them the link and offering to answer any questions.

I use voice DMs because it’s more personal, stands out and saves you a ton of time. I always use their names, when it’s listed.

The benefits of this:

  • they learn your offer solves a problem they have

  • they understand what the offer entails

  • they have access to you to ask questions, so they are more likely to ask (and they do)

  • they have the link handy to click and check it out (and many times book or buy)

  • you give your potential customer/client a sample of your personality and customer service

If you try this, slide into my DMs and let me know how it goes!

xx
